CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -- An interactive public art mural will help you make your mark on art at the 38th annual Art by the Falls outdoor fine art and crafts show June 10 and 11 at Riverside Park in Chagrin Falls.

The venerable art show returns after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. This year, Valley Art Center invites you to grab a brush and splash some color on one of five large-scale canvases.

Open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 11 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 12, the show features about 120 professional local, regional and national artists displaying and selling their work. Included are painters, potters, jewelers, sculptors, fiber artists and those working in glass, metal and wood.

The festival includes music, family activities, food and an art raffle.

The mural panels were created by Chagrin Falls artist Pam Spremulli, known for her brightly colored murals depicting buildings and architectural details. Once finished. the mural will be on display at the art center, located at 155 Bell St.

In addition to her murals, Spremulli works as a graphic illustrator and educator. She is an adjunct professor at Cleveland Institute of Art.

She recently won round two of public voting in the “Paint the District” mural competition in Cleveland and was selected as one of three Cleveland artists to paint six murals celebrating the 100th anniversary of Cleveland Public Auditorium.

Catch a live musical: Chagrin Valley Little Theatre presents live performances at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays June 10-25 of the contemporary original musical comedy “Elliot & Me.”

The New York Actors Equity cast of Drew Seigla and Eric Briarley will reprise their critically acclaimed performances from this past winter’s premiere.

Based on a true story written by Steven Willensky with Scott Coulter, and with music by Elliot Willensky, the show is filled with heartfelt humor, unexpected situations from colorful personalities and uplifting music.

The play centers on songwriter Elliot and his younger brother Steven sharing their ambitions, frustrations, triumphs and desire to fulfill their dreams.

Elliot worked with musical legends such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Jermaine Jackson. He defied the expectations of his middle-class Jewish family and dropped out of medical school to write pop songs.

Younger brother Steven admired his brother’s Hollywood lifestyle until the roles reversed when Elliot’s career hit a few bumps in the road and he needed Steven’s help.

Musical arrangements are by Michael Holland, and the production was created with the direction of Michael Bias, musical direction of Matthew Dolan and a creative team.

Briarley has toured the world playing musical comedy roles. Seigla is recognized for his tenor voice and has performed to international audiences in opera and musicals.

Tickets are $21 for adults and $17 for students, seniors and those serving in the military. Seating is by general admission in the Main Stage theater, 40 River St. in Chagrin Falls.

Make a large cement leaf: Create a focal point for your garden with Geauga County master gardener volunteers in a two-part workshop from 9 a.m. to noon June 11 and 7 to 9 p.m. June 15.

You will begin by selecting a large leaf from Mihalik’s extensive gardens, such as a hosta or elephant leaf. After making a mold from the leaf, you will cast it in cement, capturing all of the characteristics and details of the leaf.
