DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library will host an opportunity for artists to learn how to paint expressions that capture nature’s inner and outer attributes at a Chinese brush painting workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Students will cultivate the skills of using specific tools and materials to create the perfect image of bamboo plants, according to the DeKalb Public Library . The workshop is free and open to anyone 8 years old and up.
The DeKalb Public Library has hosted many interactive workshops, but many attendees have latched onto the painting ones, said Samantha Hathaway, public relations and events manager.
“Our patrons loved our art workshops in the past,” Hathway said. “Patrons will walk away with a better Chinese painting and be able to do the basis themselves.” Hathaway said.
Hathaway runs the bigger events at the library and is excited to help coordinate these art workshops for many visitors to come and create something new. This event will cover the techniques of creating artwork that encapsulates positive energy and calmness.
The painting instructor, David Zoberis Sr., comes from a long line of artists. Artistry has been taught to him by his mother and grandparents, according to the DeKalb Public Library. He learned his skills over the years through the influence of his grandfather’s perspective and his mother’s eye in color.
As of now, there are a number of events that will take place after this Chinese painting class, including upcoming magic shows, concerts and book events. On Friday , there will be an After-Hours concert starting at 6 p.m. and will be performed by Daniel Bennett Group.
