Fall Arts Preview: Lehigh Valley exhibits, concerts, music, theater

The leaves are about to get crunchy and the air’s already feeling a bit more crisp. Fall is almost here, and with it comes a bountiful harvest of new art exhibitions and events from celebrity portraits of David Bowie, Beyonce, and Marilyn Monroe to colorful light play with lasers and lenses.

Here’s a preview of this fall’s must-see art shows, events, and more.

Allentown Art Museum, 31 N. Fifth St., Allentown: Eclectic Collecting: Curiosities from the Vault: From gemstones and seventeenth-century German tankards to ancient Pompeian oil jars, this exhibition celebrates wonderful and unusual artworks that do not often make it on display. Moravian University Payne Gallery, 346 Main St., Bethlehem: The COVID Diary 2020-2022: Beginning in 2020 and following quarantine protocol, Stephen Posen sequestered himself in his rural barn studio and developed a daily practice of drawing and painting on sheets of 30x 22 watercolor paper.
