Art stirs the imagination, cultivates creativity and is a great springboard for crafting fun family memories. It’s lucky for families exploring Door County that there’s an abundance of opportunities to experience art in its many forms. From visiting a gallery, to attending a workshop, to putting a paintbrush to a canvas, there’s something for all ages and interests.
Sculpture Garden at Edgewood Orchard Galleries
4140 Peninsula Players Road in Fish Creek
Hours: Open daily, 10 am – 5 pm | Admission: Free
Walk the paved, winding path through the woods to take in larger-than-life sculptures and distinctive abstract works. Pieces include whimsical renditions and realistic creations made of bronze, aluminum and steel. The looped trail hosts work by various artists, along with benches, fountains and birdbaths.

As the peninsula’s only fine-art museum, the Miller offers families a year-round experience with an extensive collection of 20th-century Wisconsin art. The regularly changing exhibitions embrace historical and contemporary art in a range of subjects and provide an artistic learning curve for visitors of all ages.
The Guenzel Gallery at Peninsula School of Art

The two-story gallery on the Peninsula School of Art campus displays themed exhibitions by nationally recognized artists, and the gallery’s architecture – reminiscent of historical round barns – is a work of art in its own right. In addition to being able to view works of art, visitors of all ages can gain inspiring insight into the artistic process through on-site demonstrations, as well as workshops for children and teens ages 4-17.

Located along the shore in the historical Anderson Warehouse, the gallery is easily one of the most iconic art stops in Door County. Families can step inside to view paintings, drawings and photographs by regional and local artists, and the building boasts its own creative flair, with thousands of names painted onto its clapboard siding.

Experiment with color at Door County Candle Co., where children of all ages can dunk an unscented taper candle into baths of colored wax to create a functional, layered masterpiece. At $2.50 per candle, it’s a budget- and family-friendly activity to add to the itinerary.

Tap into your inner artist as you design glass mosaics, paint ceramics, stamp jewelry or try your hand at fused glass! Project costs vary, but they typically range between $10 and $40. The studio also offers art-to-go kits to take back home or to the hotel or campground as a creative, fun rainy-day activity.
