HAVING your own team of artists on-site is a huge help when it comes to decorating cross-country fences as Marian Turley discovered in advance of last Saturday’s Northern Region one-day event at Tullymurry.
Marian’s five grandchildren, who live at the Co Down equestrian centre, were delighted to be called on to paint fairies and toadstools, plus quotes from Alice In Wonderland, on fences in the Tree Field including the new drop fence designed and built by Marian’s son-in-law, David O’Connor.
As busy as he was, David had time to ride three horses on the day, two of whom were placed. The odd one out, who finished ninth in the EI90 on her debut, was Marian’s home-bred Tullymurry Grace, a four-year-old Chillout filly she hopes to produce up through the grades.
