There are still so many items out there that are made from real animal hair, even though there are so many alternatives. If you want to try to avoid buying these kinds of products and supporting fur farming, listed below are some items where animal hair is sneakily used. Make sure to do your research before buying one of these items.
Paintbrushes are a huge culprit when it comes to hidden animal hair. This is a practice that goes way back to when paintbrushes were first being used. A nimal hair has always been one of the most popular types of material to make paintbrushes with. It is soft, flexible, and doesn’t streak paint. Even today, many paint brushes are still being made with animal hair. Some very notable brands use it and even incorporate it into their marketing.
As horrifying a thought as it is, many makeup brushes are made with animal hair. This is done for similar reasons as to the paintbrushes. Animal hair is soft, nonabrasive, pliable, and delicate; perfect for blending in your concealer or adding that final touch of blush. The most common kinds of hair are squirrel, pony, mink, sable, and horse. U nless the makeup brushes are advertised as being vegan or cruelty-free, they are probably made with animal fur.
Believe it or not, another source of real animal hair just might be that fancy hairbrush that you use on your wavy locks. Most hairbrushes nowadays are made with plastic bristles, but more high-end or natural hair brushes are still being made with animal hair. The types of hair include goat hair and badger hair. Another horrible thing is that companies that still use animal hair often market them as cruelty-free.
Ironically, some miniature animal decorations are made from real hair. These are often found in small boutique shops or specialty shops. They might be miniature cats or dogs who are very lifelike and very soft to touch. This is because they are usually made with animal hair. Sometimes even dog and cat hair. They will not usually be marketed as containing real animal fur, so you should ask if you are curious.
Many clothing brands still use real animal fur despite the growing demand to end the cruel fur farming industry. Again, many brands hide this fact very sneakily, not publicly acknowledging that their clothing is made with real fur. Fur-lined coats, for instance, are sometimes made with real animal hair even though they are marketed as being faux fur coats. Many high-end clothes or knitwear are also made with mohair.
The fur industry is cruel, that is just a fact. Animals that are used for fur are treated in some of the most brutal and inhumane ways imaginable. Fur is not a product resulting from the meat industry. Fur-bearing animals are intentionally raised to be slaughtered for their hair. They are kept in horrible conditions, living in cages their entire lives until the day comes when they are killed for their fur.
