Jersey City’s night markets are returning and are looking for volunteers. The Jersey City Night Market is an event that focuses on community and supporting local businesses. Volunteers will help with setting up, hanging up signs, assisting vendors as they load in, and set up activity stations. There will be different roles at the market such as scanning tickets, assisting with wristbands, or asking guests to tag.
Volunteers will get a VIP swag bag that includes a T-shirt and two food vouchers as well as a two-to-three-hour shift to work before or during the event.
Volunteers must be 18 or over and provide and email so you can receive more details. You can reserve your spot by getting a $10 ticket as a deposit that will be returned a week after the event you’ve volunteered at. You can get tickets on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/3Mu2jHw. Liberty Humane Society will host a fee-free pet adoption event this weekend in hopes of reducing shelter overcrowding and hoping to pair animals more than 6-months old with forever homes.

Infant & Child CPR Information Session
The Hoboken Public Library is offering a free CPR information session, specific to infants and children, with Safe-T EMS & Safety Training on Sunday, May 22, at 11 a.m. The event will be held at Hoboken Public Library’s Grand St. Branch in the gym inside the multi-service center at 124 Grand St., Hoboken. This is not a certification program.

New exhibit for kids at LSC
“The Pigeon Comes to Jersey City” is the title of a new exhibit opening Saturday, May 21, at Liberty Science Center, 222 Jersey City Blvd.
The exhibit celebrates the art and characters of children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems. The exhibit features Willems popular characters Elephant and Piggie, Knuffle Bunny, and The Pigeon.
Children will be able to make art inspired by Willems and to learn about the lives of the characters in Willems’ books. The exhibit will be on view until September.
Learn how to do business with Hudson County
Business owners looking to grow and expand can check out a free information seminar by the Hudson County Office of Business Opportunity on Wednesday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Culinary Center at Hudson County Community College at 161 Newkirk St., Jersey City. There will be a team of Hudson County Departments that will provide visitors with everything needed to know about how to become a vendor for Hudson County.
Topics will include vendor qualification and certification, the RFP/RFQ process and requirements, billing and receiving payment, and purchasing opportunities.

Sip & Paint for kids
Guaicora Studios and Art150 are hosting a Sip & Paint for kids on Sunday, May 22, from 3 to 4 p.m. at 150 Bay St., Jersey City. The Sip & Paint will provide guests with paint, pre-sketched cardboard, brushes, and juice. The event is part of the Impact mid-show reception on the same day. Make a plant pot and paint it
Jersey City artist Imani Starr will be hosting this month’s JCWC Collaborative Craft series on Wednesday, May 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For the workshop, guests will be working with acrylic paints and painter markers to paint pots for plants.
The workshop will begin with sketching a draft that will help bring your vision to life. When it’s ready, guests will plant seeds and add dirt and water to begin their growth. All materials will be provided during the event and the workshop will be outside on the terrace if the weather permits it. The event will take place at 201 Montgomery St., Jersey City, on the second floor.
The Pershing Field Garden Friends will hold a spring gardening day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at the Pershing Field Park Community Center, 835 Summit Ave., Jersey City.
Volunteers are needed to get the gardens ready for the 2022 season. Volunteers will work with experienced gardeners pruning, transplanting, mulching and shaping the gardens. Gloves and tools will be provided. Dress for gardening work.
Volunteers should meet in front of the Community Center and workers should be 12 years old and up
Jersey City Ward Tour returns
The Jersey City Ward Tour returns on June 5 at 11 a.m., beginning at City Hall.
As many as 2,000 bikes are predicted to participate in the 15 mile ride through the city’s 6 wards. The event is free and open to all, but donations are welcome. Sponsors are also accepting donations to fund Bike JC’s year-round work for better biking in JC. $5 is the suggested donation, but not required.

The 44th annual Santacruzan and Flores de Mayo Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 29, at St. Mary’s parish, 254 2nd St., Jersey City, The Philippine festival follows the annual procession, marking the end of a month-long devotion to the Virgin Mary.
Record Riot in Jersey City
The Jersey City Record Riot returns Saturday, June 4, at the Grove Street PATH plaza from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 40 tables with LPS, CDs and 45s will be set up for browsing and there will be vendors from throughout the New York metro area, Admission is free.
